Prof. Hao Yan, Ph.D.

Dr. Hao Yan is Regents Professor and Milton D. Glick Distinguished Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Arizona State University, where he also serves as Director of the Biodesign Center for Molecular Design and Biomimetics. He is known for pioneering contributions to structural DNA nanotechnology, with research spanning three areas: achieving atomic-level precision in structural design through DNA crystal engineering, developing complex architectures using DNA and RNA origami, and expanding functional capabilities in nucleic acid nanotechnology. He received his B.S. in chemistry from Shandong University in 1993 and his Ph.D. from New York University in 2001, followed by research at Duke University before joining ASU in 2004. Dr. Yan has authored over 240 scientific publications, holds more than 50 patents, and has co-founded two biotechnology companies. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE), the National Academy of Inventors (NAI), the European Academy of Sciences (EurASc), and the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (EASA). His honors include the Feynman Prize in Nanotechnology, the Rozenberg Tulip Award in DNA Computing, the Humboldt Research Award, the Sloan Research Fellowship, among many others.
